Apple Blueberry Crisp
This warm Apple Blueberry Crisp is a cozy, fruit-filled dessert that celebrates fresh apples and blueberries under a buttery, oat-strewn topping. It bakes into a bubbling, golden treat with natural sweetness from the fruits and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for fall gatherings or weeknight indulgences, it uses seasonal produce and comes together in under an hour. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or yogurt for extra delight

Ingredients
For 8 servings, gather these simple items:
- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced (about 4 cups)
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- ½ cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (divided)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Optional: ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
Direction
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or similar-sized ovenproof pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, toss sliced apples and blueberries with ¼ cup granulated sugar, cornstarch, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Spread the fruit mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining ¼ cup granulated sugar, remaining ½ teaspoon cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg (if using). Add cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs (pea-sized pieces are ideal).
- Step 4: If using nuts, fold them into the crumb mixture now. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit, pressing lightly to compact it slightly.
- Step 5: Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly around the edges. If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
- Step 6: Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes to set. Serve warm, scooping generous portions into bowls.
